Not far from the bow building is my most recent commission in downtown Calgary. Over 25 feet long the three-part piece captures the kinetics of the pedestrian oriented plus 15 system. Pedestrian traffic in the downtown always fascinates me. Particularily when its busy, these areas flow much like the water currents of the Bow River: the traffic ebbs and flows and often creates slower moving pockets where people congregate.

Just like the bow the slower moving blue ribbons are the richest; and full of life. Currents, is located at one of those places; above a cafe where one can relax and have a coffee and remove themselves from the fast moving water….

Using modified bike cables as hangers, currents is designed and engineered using four custom designed acrylic shapes that are heat formed; creating a truly unique Artwork for Calgary’s downtown. The hanging sculpture is located on the second floor of 333- 5th avenue @ the Good Earth Cafe Officially now my favorite place to have coffee…
