On behalf of MADE in Edmonton, I will be attending the Design Exchange- National Design Conference with Chet Domanski. We will be staying in Toronto for the week of Oct 11-15. As usual, I will be taking tons of images, and hope to post something cool when I return on MoCo Loco.
Being the Chair of MADE in Edmonton has given me the opportunity to meet many great designers/ business people. In September 2005 we organized a public lecture of John Christkos of Blu Dot with The Works, and The Edmonton Art Gallery. During his visit we toured around with Chet Domanski, and sat down for an interview. What I liked about John is that he didn’t take himself too seriously…. he was alot of fun to talk with.
The work of Blu Dot has been exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art, and is in the permanent collection of the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts as well as many others. Pieces have also been seen on the sets of well-known television shows such as Friends, ER, MTV- Real World, and Saturday Night Live. (photo above: Greg Ball and John Christakos)
