“Consumed”- Art Project

Once and a while I get the opportunity to work with really talented people that enjoy “playing around” like a bunch of kids and making interesting work- just for fun.

On April 24th 2004 was such an occasion. Working with Intern Architect- Shafraaz Kaba, and Toronto Artist- Hri Neil we turned one of my prototype plywood chairs into a short film. We cleared an Edmonton parking lot, poured gas on the chair, and lit it on fire. To add some richness and depth, we projected scenes of the all-familiar Wal-mart parking lot to the building behind. We captured some stunning images of our film, and it was unveiled at the FAVA/MADE Super 8 screening party Saturday, April 24, 2004 in Edmonton, Alberta. As a side note, there was a lot of satisfaction in seeing an unsuccessful prototype under 15 feet of flames!
