I had alot of fun in High School, and I paid for it. According to my teachers, because of my poor grades, short attention span, and under-disciplined behavior (which I would argue now, was simply unstructured creativity) post-secondary school was not an option for me. Following graduation from High School I worked as a carpenter travelling Alberta and Saskatchewan. I worked hard for three years framing houses, placing concrete, and being a truck driver for Home Hardware’s lumber yard (which by the way was my all time favorite job). I also partied alot, and began painting bizarre images in my basement. I’d show them, but they are all far too weird- No really, they are! Anyway, It was during that time I went back to school to pursue my passion to be creative. This required upgrading many of my classes including English, Math, and Biology by correspondence. So I quit my job, and lived in my parent’s basement while I studied hard to gain entrance into ANY institution that would take me.
After many rejections from several schools, Red Deer College finally accepted my application to study Art and Design in 1996. I promised myself then, that nothing would stop me from becoming an Artist.
